What will you be up to for the long weekend?
The Eid holiday is almost upon us. Eid Al Fitr is the celebration at the end of Ramadan, with an extended break to enjoy from June 4-8. So how will you be spending it? Here are a few ideas:
Find Eid bargains in a 24-hour mall
From June 5, shopping malls in Abu Dhabi will stay open for 24 hours, offering discounts as much as 90 per cent. Try Yas Mall, The Mall at World Trade Center and Dalma Mall, as well as the Al Jimi Mall in Al Ain. Spend AED1,000 or more, and you will also receive a VAT refund.
Play mini golf on the ice
Go to the Dubai Ice Rink at Dubai Mall for this one. A nine-hole mini golf course has just opened there, costing AED40 per person. Suitable for all ages, it has a dedicated entrance and seating area for spectators, with food and beverage options.
Smash stuff up
The Smash Room in Al Quoz has a special Eid offer – a family ticket costs AED200 for two adults and two children, with 40 glass and two electronic items included, ready to be smashed up. A great way to release frustration, with protective clothing provided.
Check out the Yas Gaming Festival
The festival at Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi runs from June 5-15. There will be cosplay and gaming competitions, with appearances from well-known YouTubers and gamers, plus a chance for visitors to try a whole host of new and retro titles.
Indulge in some virtual reality

Head to a 24-hour cinema
Novo Cinemas has announced that its theatres in Dubai Festival City, IMG Worlds of Adventure and Dragon Mart 2 will remain open around the clock from June 5-7. Reel Cinemas at Dubai Mall will also be open for 24 hours during Eid. New movies include X-Men: Dark Phoenix and John Wick 3.
Mingle with movie stars
Reel Cinemas has a special screening of Rashid & Rajab at Reel Cinemas on the first day of Eid at 7pm, with its director, Mohammed Saeed Harib, and its two stars, Shadi Alfons and Seema. The movie is a body-swap comedy about an Emirati businessman switching places with an Egyptian delivery driver. Tickets are AED75 each.

Both have top restaurants, and a pool to relax beside, with the Wyndham Dubai Marina offering an Eid buffet for AED199 per person.
