Vacheron Constantin is hinting at a new era of watchmaking with its latest collection of timepieces entitled Fiftysix®. The collection stands as an important step in time as the new line instils modern momentum capable of opening up the world of fine watchmaking to contemporary enthusiasts.
The line is inspired by a historical Vacheron Constantin watch dating from 1956.
The original watch that was created in 1956, which the line pays direct tribute to, had a distinctive design that represented the house’s innovations in the 1950s, a time in history that watch enthusiasts consider the golden age of watchmaking as well as the heyday of musical creativity.
The design is elegantly slim, round, and distinguished by its four lugs each representing a branch of the Maltese cross. The original watch was the first timepiece was one the house’s first watches to be equipped with self-winding movement and a water-resistant case. It stood as a testament to how the house wove the ties between respect for tradition and a taste for innovation.
Now, and for the first time in the company’s history, the house decided to offer a classic collection that pays homage to the iconic watch, which will be available in four options in both steel and gold.
