The Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara won a top travel website poll

While it may be on our doorstep, and somewhere to head at the weekend, to holidaymakers around the world it must seem like some exotic far-off location – but whatever the reason for visiting, the good news is that the Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara has just been ranked ‘The Most Instagrammable Hotel in the World’.

An online poll was conducted by the Luxury Travel Advisor website, with more than 35,000 people voting for the five-star desert property, which sits on the edge of Abu Dhabi’s Empty Quarter. It took 61% of the online votes, with the Viceroy Los Cabos in Mexico in second place.

With the Qasr Al Sarab, you can see the obvious appeal – its overall design resembles a sandcastle, with the separate Royal Pavilion Villas featuring private pools and a butler service. Balconies offer views over the sand dunes, and there is a huge range of desert activities, including camel trekking, dune bashing, desert fat biking, horse riding, camp fire barbecues, full moon experiences, archery and more. Lots of potential for Instagram-worthy pics.
