Somewhere above the treeline, where the air turns thin and sharp, Gucci has found its next frontier. The Italian fashion house – long defined by city lights and cinematic excess, has taken to the mountains for Gucci Altitude, its debut winter sportswear collection.
Framed by a vast, snow-covered expanse, Altitude marks Gucci’s first exploration of performance wear – a venture that blends alpine functionality with the brand’s unmistakable codes of elegance. The campaign stars Jannik Sinner, Gucci’s global brand ambassador and a fitting choice: before his rise in tennis, Sinner was a junior ski champion, carving lines through the same kind of peaks that now frame the collection.
“This was such a special and unique shoot in the middle of the mountains,” Sinner says. “Gucci always comes up with amazing ideas, but this one felt truly magical.”
The collection finds harmony between motion and stillness, control and ease – its outerwear designed for both the slopes and the quiet moments between them. Jackets and trousers feature three-layer breathable fabrics, water-resistant finishes, and practical touches like ski-pass pockets and touchscreen interiors. Gucci’s design DNA is present but restrained: the silhouettes are sleek, the branding discreet, the palette cool and deliberate. Even the accessories – wraparound sunglasses and a ski mask bearing the Gucci logo – are more about focus than flash.
This isn’t athleisure dressed up as luxury; it’s technical wear seen through a couture lens. And while Gucci hasn’t said whether Altitude signals a permanent move into sportswear, the collection feels like more than a seasonal experiment. There’s intent in the engineering, ambition in the restraint – the kind of groundwork that often precedes a larger evolution.
If Gucci Aria revisited heritage and Gucci Ancora redefined essence, Gucci Altitude looks upward – to new terrain, new performance, and maybe even a new future for the House.
