This autumn, Louvre Abu Dhabi will host the fifth edition of Art Here, its signature contemporary art exhibition, in partnership with Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille. The event, which also awards the Richard Mille Art Prize, has become a focal point for regional and international contemporary art.
The theme for 2025, Shadows, encourages artists to explore the space between light and dark, presence and absence. Guest curator Sophie Mayuko Arni, celebrated for championing Arab and Asian contemporary voices, has shaped the exhibition to highlight the interplay of visibility, concealment, and perception.
From over 400 submissions, six works by seven artists have been selected for display under the museum’s iconic dome. The artists include Ryouchi Kurokawa, Jumairy, Ahmed Al-Aqra, Rintaro Fuse, and Hamra Abbas, each contributing a distinct approach to the exploration of shadow in art. One of these works will receive the Richard Mille Art Prize.
The jury features H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, cultural advisor and board member of both the British Museum and the Centre Pompidou, alongside Japanese curator Yuko Hasegawa. Their participation underscores the exhibition’s significance beyond the regional art scene.
Art Here 2025 will run from 11 October to 28 December, continuing Louvre Abu Dhabi’s commitment to fostering dialogue between the Middle East and the wider contemporary art world.
