Rolex Expands Certified Pre-Owned Program, Making Recent Models More Accessible

Words by:

In a significant move for luxury watch enthusiasts, Rolex has broadened its Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program, now accepting watches as recent as two years old. This shift opens up access to some of the brand’s hottest models, including the latest Cosmograph Daytona and Yacht-Master releases, to buyers seeking guaranteed authenticity and factory servicing.

When Rolex launched the CPO initiative in late 2022, it was a landmark moment for the pre-owned market. For the first time, buyers could purchase used Rolex watches directly through official channels with the confidence that each timepiece had been inspected, serviced by Rolex-certified experts, and backed by a two-year international warranty.

Previously, the program applied only to watches at least three years old, leaving out newer, highly coveted pieces. The new two-year eligibility rule, effective since May 2025, reflects Rolex’s response to growing demand and the evolving market for certified second-hand luxury watches.

This expansion is particularly relevant to collectors and buyers worldwide, including in the Middle East, where many acquire Rolex watches via authorized retailers abroad. With more models qualifying for certification, buyers can now explore a wider selection of factory-vetted watches, reducing risks linked to counterfeit or improperly maintained pieces.

While Certified Pre-Owned Rolexes come at a premium compared to uncertified counterparts, the assurance of authenticity, meticulous servicing, and a fresh warranty offers substantial value. Rolex’s rigorous checks cover every component, ensuring that pre-owned watches meet the brand’s exacting standards before reaching customers.

As Rolex continues to refine its pre-owned program, the luxury watch market could see further shifts toward certified, factory-backed resale, elevating buyer confidence across regions and markets.
