Santoni’s Meraviglia: Fifty Years of Italian Elegance, Perfected

For its 50th anniversary, Italian shoemaker Santoni isn’t looking back - it’s slowing down. The new Meraviglia collection is an ode to the art of making, where every stitch and shade tells a story

In a moment when luxury often moves faster than its makers, Santoni offers a pause. From its light-filled workshop in Italy’s Marche region, where generations of artisans have shaped leather since 1975, the brand celebrates fifty years not with fanfare, but focus.

Its anniversary line, Meraviglia – meaning “wonder” – is less a collection than a statement of intent. Designed for both men and women, it captures the precision that defines Santoni: fluid lace-ups, sculptural loafers, and softened pumps, all finished by hand with meditative care.

The artistry of restraint

Every detail in Meraviglia is deliberate. Shoes are crafted using Uniqua, Santoni’s seamless technique in which the upper is carved from a single piece of leather. The finishing – known as Velatura – layers translucent colour, tone over tone, until the surface gleams with depth. The collection’s signature shade, Blu Meraviglia, is a deep, iridescent blue that shifts like light over water.

There’s a drama in the men’s double-buckle monk, an icon of the house, while women’s styles balance structure and softness.

A legacy in motion

To present Meraviglia, Santoni chose an exhibition over a runway. At Milan’s Galleria Meraviglia, the installation Objects of Marvel revealed not only the finished shoes but the intimate world behind them – wooden lasts, tools worn by decades of use, the hands that coax leather into form.

Shot by Jack Davison, the campaign captures the tactile essence of Santoni: texture, light, and human touch. Faces appear half in shadow; what shines instead is the making itself.

A companion book, Santoni Meraviglia, published by Assouline, gathers 248 pages of imagery and reflection – part monograph, part meditation on the art of craft.

The emblem of mastery

At the heart of the collection lies the Santoni Culture emblem, created specially for the anniversary. More than a logo, it is a symbol of continuity – a seal of excellence that appears embossed within each pair.

The collection is available through Santoni.com and in select boutiques worldwide, including in the Middle East. Each piece feels less like a product and more like a conversation between past and future – between patience and innovation.
