Zegna Plants Roots in Dubai with New Level Shoes Space

Zegna’s new menswear space at Dubai Mall’s Level Shoes blends artisanal Italian design with a modern retail concept.

Zegna’s new corner at Level Shoes swaps flash for form, presenting a refined vision of Italian menswear. The Italian luxury house has quietly opened the space at The Dubai Mall, offering a curated edit of footwear, leather goods and eyewear that underscores the brand’s commitment to craft over noise.

The space, while compact, feels expansive in its intent. At its heart is a custom-made rug by Sardinian textile house Mariantonia Urru, woven using traditional techniques and natural dyes. Some of the wool is coloured while still on the sheep – a rare method known as tinto in pecora, adding a poetic detail to a retail setting that deliberately avoids the hyper-slick polish typical of the region.

Around it, the design cues are restrained but telling: a Cassina 905 chair, originally designed by Vico Magistretti in 1964, and the Archibald armchair by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau anchor the space with a kind of quiet authority. Tables from Riva 1920, crafted from sustainable Italian wood using traditional joinery, round out the interior – not just decorative choices, but statements of intent.

This is Zegna positioning itself not merely as a brand, but as a cultural force – one that brings with it a lineage of Italian modernism and a vision of menswear that goes beyond tailoring. Under Alessandro Sartori’s creative direction, the brand has leaned deeper into a language of texture, form and provenance.

Set within Level Shoe, arguably the Middle East’s most influential footwear destination – the corner exists within a retail landscape that caters to a new type of luxury consumer: globally mobile, aesthetically fluent, and increasingly drawn to brands that deal in meaning rather than just logo.

The move is both strategic and symbolic. In choosing a curated, tactile presence over a larger footprint, Zegna is signalling a shift – not just in where luxury lives, but how it speaks.
