A unique tourbillon openworked two-tone edition
So, Only Watch is a biennial auction of unique timepieces, which happens to be taking place in November in Geneva, with a range of watch manufacturers contributing. Audemars Piguet is one of them, and will be offering (deep breath) the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Tourbillon Openworked Unique Piece for Only Watch 2019.
Just to add to the names, Code 11.59 is the brand’s ambitious collection launched earlier this year, featuring 13 new references, six new models and three new calibres. This includes a new in-house chronograph.
The Only Watch 2019 just happens to be a special piece from that series – a two-tone 41mm version that emphasises the architectural complexities and shapes of the Code 11.59 case, featuring 18k rose gold with brushed and polished surfaces. The rest of the case parts, such as the ultra-thin, round bezel, the sculptural lugs and caseback, are all 18k white gold.
Then there is the hand-wound tourbillon openworked movement, calibre 2948, with its rhodium-toned openworked plate, finished with vertical traits-tirés. The long 18k rose gold hands add another dash of colour, with a black alligator strap provided.
François-Henry Bennahmias, Audemars Piguet CEO, said of the Only Watch 2019 event, “We are proud to contribute to this charity auction once more, and help advance scientific and medical research.”
