Batman Is Getting A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Will there be a secret cave hidden under it?

The Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles is famous for its bronze stars, which now spread across the pavement for 15 blocks. Each bears the name of a popular cultural icon – actors, singers and directors among them. There are currently more than 2,600 stars, and the list is added to each year.

The Walk of Fame Selection Committee has just announced the additions for 2020 – and Batman is one of the names to be featured. The Dark Knight celebrates his 80thanniversary this year after making his first appearance in 1939’s Detective Comics No 27.

Over the years, the character has spawned toys, cartoons, merchandise, TV shows, video games and multi-million-dollar movie franchises – it was the 30thanniversary of the release of director Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman movie earlier this week.

Other names to be added for 2020 include Julia Roberts, Spike Lee, Chris Hemsworth, Alicia Keys and 50 Cent. Batman joins a list of 18 fictional characters who have stars – the others include Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny and Godzilla.
