The World No 5 is the watchmaker’s new brand ambassador
Swiss watch manufacturer Bovet 1822 has signed Russian tennis ace Daniil Medvedev as its latest brand ambassador. It is not yet clear how the two will work together, but having the World No 5 wear the latest Bovet 1822 watches will presumably be part of the deal, with the brand supporting the 23-year-old at events.
Confirming the announcement were photos of Medvedev wearing a Bovet 1822 Ottantasei Tourbillon timepiece, available in titanium, PVD-treated titanium, rose gold and platinum. The watch also has two dial variations, in lacquered white or satin-finished blue.
Bovet 1822 owner, Pascal Raffy, said, “Tennis is a sport that suits me particularly. The concepts of exchange and respect are always present, whether it’s with our opponents or the partners with whom we play. We always try to communicate this within our brand.”
Continuous effort and improvement, and humility, are also cited as shared values between a successful Swiss watchmaker and a tennis champion. Precision, passion and fairness are the other themes in this partnership.
Medvedev has played tennis since the age of six, and has already had a successful junior career. His first ATP singles win came in 2016, and he won the Sydney International in 2018. This year, he has beaten the World No 1, Novak Djokovic, on two separate occasions, and is tipped to become a major superstar.
