Breitling’s Latest Edition To Support Frontline Healthcare Workers

Will donate some of the proceeds

Last month, you may have caught the launch of Breitling’s new Superocean Heritage ’57 collection. Based on the original Superocean watch from 1957, these models came in a range of simple colours, intended to channel the relaxed lifestyle of Californian surfers. Among them was a limited edition ‘rainbow’ model, all in black, but with multiple bright colours on the face.

Well, Breitling is now releasing another version of that same watch, the Superocean Heritage ’57 Limited Edition II, this time with a blue dial, limited to 1,000 pieces, with part of the proceeds being donated to charities supporting frontline healthcare workers in countries all over the world. Breitling will also donate an additional CHF1,000 (AED3,802) for each of the first 100 of these watches sold via its website. In total, Breitling’s entire donation will be close to AED2 million.

One model will even be auctioned in June via Charitybuzz, with the successful bidder also receiving a digital live chat with legendary surfer Kelly Slater. As a member of the Breitling Surfer Squad, Slater acts as an ambassador, helping to promote the brand.

The collection had been announced in April via a web broadcast, as due to the coronavirus pandemic, a physical launch to the media or at a trade show would be impossible. The Superocean Heritage ’57 line already has a link to the illness for this reason, and will now seek to assist those helping to reduce and control the spread.

Six charities will be supported in total, based in France, Italy, Japan, Spain, the UK and the US. Each country has been directly impacted by the coronavirus in recent months.

The Superocean Heritage ’57 Limited Edition II itself has a 42mm stainless steel case and a bidirectional rotating bezel, with an ultra-hard blue ceramic bezel ring and a blue dial. Details are highlighted in yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, red, and orange, with a gold-brown vintage-inspired leather strap, an integrated Ocean Classic stainless-steel bracelet, or a vibrant Outerknown ECONYL yarn NATO strap in up to six different colour combinations.
