Presenting the DBZ Centenary Collection

Aston Martin makes some of the most desirable modern cars in the world, but did you know it also has a lucrative sideline building limited-edition recreations of some of its famous classics? The DBS GT Zagato premiered last week alongside the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation, with both cars available as a pair for £6m (AED27m).

The clear link here is the Zagato name – the famed Italian coachbuilders, founded 100 years ago in 1919. It has put its own spin on many different cars through the years, for an estimated 44 manufacturers, including Aston Martin. One of the most loved, and rarest, is the original DB4 GT Zagato, first introduced in 1960, with only 20 ever built. It made perfect sense for Aston Martin to create additional examples as part of its Continuation line.

So to celebrate 100 years of Zagato, the vintage-style DB4 GT Zagato Continuation is available with the modern DBS GT Zagato, which is set to become a talking point in its own right – offering 760bhp through its 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine. Both cars are offered in Supernova Red, a paint colour developed exclusively for this collection, with the DBS GT Zagato featuring exposed carbon-fibre accents, and Satin Black and Gold 3D-machined wheels.

Other details on the modern car include a gloss-finish carbon-fibre roof and rear diffuser, solid 18-carat gold wing badges front and rear, a black anodised active front grille and its gold anodised side strakes and centre-lock wheel nuts. As a world-first, the car uses metal 3D-printed interior finishes – go for carbon, aluminium or PVD-coated stainless steel on a range of items, finished by skilled craftsmen.

The DB4 GT Zagato Continuation, meanwhile, has been hand-built by Aston Martin Works, the brand’s own restoration centre in Newport Pagnell in the UK. An accurate recreation of the original 1960s vehicle, only a sympathetic application of modern engineering advancements and performance enhancements have been applied.

Just 19 DB4 GT Zagato Continuations will be built – meaning only 19 of these exclusive anniversary pairings. Get your order in now?
