Talking about his 30-year career
A new film, game, video and music festival, ON.DXB, is taking place in Dubai this weekend, with concerts, special guests, networking sessions, and more – oh, and the director of such movies as Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X and BlackKkKlansman, Spike Lee, will be dropping in.
The event is taking place over three days, from November 21-23, at Dubai Studio City’s Sound Stages. Expect keynote talks, live pitches, industry workshops, and more.
An initiative of Dubai Media City, in cooperation with the Dubai Film & TV Commission, the inaugural edition will also welcome internationally-acclaimed Grime artist and actor Kano; actor, producer and YouTube sensation Liza Koshy; and regional gaming icon MjrmGames. There are two core zones – the business-networking Industry Arena, and the consumer-centric Festival Square.
Spike Lee will be speaking on Saturday, November 23 at 5.15pm on the Circle Stage in the Industry Arena on the power of media, followed by a session charting his 30-year career in the dedicated film theatre in Festival Square, starting at 7pm. Get there are few hours earlier, and catch a panel with Saudi-based gamer MjrmGames at 3pm.
Closing the event, the multi-award-winning rapper and the UK’s ‘King of Grime’, Kano, will perform at 10pm, supported by UAE-based Somali rapper FREEK. Other regional talent will appear over the weekend.
