Celine just announced the launch of the menswear collection campaign for the Celine Summer ’19 collection after much hype and anticipation. The campaign is an animated video of images shot by Hedi Slimane, the brand’s artistic, creative, and image director, who joined Celine in February of 2018 after serving as the creative director for Yves Saint Laurent until 2016.
The video mixes key looks from the brand’s first full menswear collection and still lifes images, which Slimane shot in London earlier in October of this year.
The campaign video, entitled Paris La Nuit Journal Nocture de la Jeunesse Parisienne, also features a track by French synth-pop duo RUTH as its soundtrack. The track was first released in 1985 and is a very emblematic song from the Des Jeunes Gens Modernes movement.
Ever since Hedi Slimane joined Celine, it has been obvious that he’s not taking the brand’s menswear department lightly. Earlier this year, the brand announced that Hedi will be releasing a full menswear collection and that Hedi will stage a show exclusively for menswear.
The full collection is set to debut in the next season of Men’s Fashion Week in Paris. The highly anticipated upcoming show will mark Celine’s first ever fashion show dedicated to menswear and the first menswear collection by Slimane in three years.
The collection will be available in Celine stores for both men and women in February 2019.
