Stranger Things update

It was one of the best series of 2016 and Netflix had set the release date of season two as Halloween this year – which seemed appropriate – but have just announced that they’re pulling it forward to an October 27th release.

They’ve also issued the new poster, hinting at a new threat for the new series. It looks great.

And to go with it’s there a new teaser trailer.

What else do we know about season two?

It will be a longer nine episodes and set one year after the first season. Sean Austin is joining the cast as a former nerd who went to high school with Will’s mum (Winona Ryder) and casting him is a nice nod to the tone of the series as, of course, he was in the ‘80s classic The Goonies.

Paul Reiser is joining as a Dr. Owens, a Department of Energy employee who has been brought in to contain the events of the previous year. Again, it’s meta casting as Reiser played just that sort of corporate stooge in Aliens – another film overtly references in the first season.

For the kids, we’re told that Will is finding it hard to adjust to normal life after returning from the “Upside Down”, but on the plus side, because it’s set in 1984 everyone is really excited about Ghostbusters.
