With offers, workshops and celebrity chefs
Culinary Month at Atlantis, The Palm is back! The third edition of this top foodie fest will run from November 3-December 5, with special set menus, offers, masterclasses and visits from celebrity chefs.
Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect:
Meet Nobu Matsuhisa
The Japanese celebrity chef and restaurateur behind Nobu is in Dubai for two nights, from December 3-4. First up is his special eight-course white truffle menu (AED675), including classics such as Chilean seabass yuzu with a truffle twist, while the next evening is his nine-course Omakase menu (AED575), with his favourite all-time dishes, from sushi to green tea fondant and mochi ice cream. From 6pm-11pm both nights.
Dine with Giorgio Locatelli and a MasterChef Italia winner
Over two nights, from November 10-11, enjoy a five-course dinner of the finest Italian delicacies at Ronda Locatelli, prepared by Giorgio Locatelli himself, a judge on MasterChef Italia, and its 2019 winner, Valeria Raciti. The so-called ‘Four Hands’ dinner includes deep-fried calzone with anchovies, pot-roasted octopus, and beef tartare with egg and white truffle. From 6pm-10.30pm, AED290 per person.
Try a set menu with dishes from multiple restaurants
From November 3-16, you can try special three-course set menus at Atlantis, The Palm that bring together dishes from multiple restaurants. The AED350 menu offers signature dishes from Nobu, Hakassan and Seafire, while the AED150 version combines Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, Ronda Locatelli and Ayamna. With one menu it can be Peking duck and steak, while the other is beef Wellington and Lebanese mezze.
Welcome a Michelin-starred chef to Ossiano
Ossiano already has an award-winning chef de cuisine in Gregoire Berger, but from November 7-8 he will team up with Jean-Francois Piege, a protégé of Alain Ducasse, from Le Grand Restaurant in Paris, which boasts two Michelin stars. This will result in a nine-course menu of canapes, Scottish scallops in a seaweed crust, and blue lobster cooked in fig leaves, among other dishes. From 6.30pm-10.30pm, AED995 per person, or AED1,495 with grape pairings.
Feast on fantastic barbecue at Seafire
Seafire’s chef de cuisine, Raymond Wong, is welcoming Australian celebrity chef and barbecue expert Ben O’Donoghue to the restaurant from November 21-22 for a meat celebration. The first night will see a selection of flaming dishes presented, while the following evening has been dubbed ‘From the Valley to the Palm,’ celebrating the best Australian produce, including a selection of grape from Down Under. From 6.30pm-10.30pm, AED360 per person.
Sample a vegan set menu at Ronda Locatelli
The recent documentary on Netflix, The Game Changers, cites the health and performance benefits of vegan food, making the three-course menu on offer at Ronda Locatelli from November 3-16 all the more intriguing. Made with fruit and vegetables sourced from Giorgio Locatelli’s Sicilian farm, try the baked aubergine cake and vegan chocolate sphere, among other dishes. From 6pm-10.30pm, AED150 per person.
Attend a cooking class
Nobu, Ronda Locatelli and Ayamna are hosting cooking masterclasses from November 17-23, 4pm-6pm, for up to 10 people. Ronda Locatelli (AED350) will show you how to make pizza dough and pasta; at Nobu (AED600) it’s sushi and black cod miso; and at Ayamna (AED350) it’s Lebanese mezze, a main course and dessert. Each masterclass includes a 25 per cent discount on a restaurant booking that evening.
