Think rings, chains and bracelets
What a year it’s been for men’s jewellery, with new brands and ranges emerging, helping you to accessorise in lots of different ways. Gone are the days when a watch and a wedding band were the only decorative touches a man might wear – jewellery designers have realised that simplicity and subtlety are the best ways to appeal to a male audience, offering lightweight, slimline pieces. Here are the names to look for:
Subtle, elegant and a small sliver of luxury are the best ways to describe Georg Jensen’s jewellery pieces. The brand was founded in Copenhagen in 1904, and has a history spanning well over 100 years. Its rings, bracelets and cufflinks, with their use of silver and onyx, have a clear masculine edge, bringing a touch of Scandinavian class to any outfit. Look for Georg Jensen stores in Dubai Mall, Dubai Festival City and the Atlantis, The Palm hotel.
At Louis Vuitton’s stores in Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates, you can now ask about the men’s jewellery range from the brand. This has been steadily introduced over the last couple of years, and added to recently with an entirely new chain for the wrist or around the neck, featuring subtle engravings and touches of colour. Also look for its white ceramic pendant and signet ring, which display the Louis Vuitton branding in their own distinct ways.
You’ll find M Cohen jewellery – the work of Los-Angeles-based designer Maor Cohen – exclusively at The Lighthouse concept store in Dubai Design District (d3). These handmade pieces use materials from all over the world, including 18k gold, sterling silver, rare beads, semi-precious stones and diamonds. Necklaces, bracelets and rings are available, and designed to suit the concept of layering – meaning that multiples of each should be worn at the same time.
Earlier this year, Parisian jewellery brand Messika launched its Titanium line as an offshoot of its existing Move collection for men, available from its store in Dubai Mall. It has rings, bangles, pendants and cufflinks made from titanium. Light in weight, each piece features diamonds for added sparkle, mounted with a floating effect or inside a cage design. Choose from a number of different shades too, including natural, graphite and black titanium.
This was the year that Tiffany & Co launched its first comprehensive jewellery collection aimed at the male consumer, aptly called Tiffany Men’s. There are bracelets, bangles, necklaces, watches and cufflinks on offer, all presented in the brand’s trademark sterling server. But the range also encompasses other items, such as dog tags, compasses, cocktail mixers and chess sets, all remade as luxury goods. Find Tiffany outlets in Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates.
