In Europe and Asia
Plan a trip to remember – that’s one of your new year’s resolutions right there. We all need more relaxation and pampering time, and one way to guarantee this is with a visit to a luxury hotel. The five listed here are either brand new or opening soon, and definitely worth a visit in 2020. Whether you fly to Europe or Asia, you won’t be disappointed.
Capella Bangkok, Thailand
Due to open early in 2020, this luxury retreat can be found on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River, otherwise known as the River of Kings. The 101-key property is Capella’s first urban hotel in Thailand, with a 350m riverside setting, giving each villa and suite unobstructed views. The signature restaurant is curated by celebrated Michelin chef Mauro Colagreco, while the spa, Auriga Welless, offers a wide range of Asian-inspired therapies. Another feature is the Capella Living Room, a river-facing lounge hosting local artisans, musicians and chefs.
Lindos Grand Resort & Spa, Greece
You’ll need to get to the Greek island of Rhodes, and also wait until the opening date of May 2020, for a stay at the Lindos Grand Resort & Spa – but with ocean views and wraparound infinity pools, it’ll be worth the effort. This stylish adult-only resort is designed to blend into the hillside, using locally-sourced materials in its construction, with the tech-friendly rooms and suites using a sleek smartphone system to control the lighting and heating, and access the e-concierge. Facilities will include the healing ThalassoSpa, which uses natural island ingredients.
Nobu Hotel Warsaw, Poland
Poland’s capital is evolving into a vibrant travel destination, with nearly a dozen hotels set to open in 2020 alone. The Nobu Hotel Warsaw is one of the most anticipated, combining new design features with elements of an existing property for a unique contemporary makeover. This will be the perfect base for exploring the historic city, with 117 rooms, expansive meeting and event spaces, a fitness centre and a signature Nobu Restaurant, serving up all of the dishes it is known for the world over. Due to open in the spring of 2020.
San Canzian Village & Hotel, Croatia
This newly-opened heritage hotel can be found in Istria – a peninsula in the far north of Crotia, known for its rugged coastline, valleys and hilltop villages. The authentic heritage property has individually-styled rooms and suites, each with a contemporary design and stunning countryside views. Local cuisine can be found in the hotel’s restaurant, including olive oils, fresh Adriatic seafood and truffles. Hunt for truffles yourself in the nearby valleys, or try one of the hotel’s classic car excursions. An outdoor pool and sauna are also available.
Zafiro Palace Andratx, Majorca
Your summer vacation could tie in with the opening of this all-suite, five-star palace hotel on the Spanish island of Majorca, set right on the coast. Located in Camp de Mar, a village sheltered by mountains, a sandy beach and walks across fields of oranges, olives and grapes are only minutes away. The hotel itself has 304 contemporary suites, including penthouses and those with private pools. There are five restaurants here too, serving everything from local Spanish fare to modern Asian cuisine, with the Zen, Body & Mind Spa another feature.
