New designs from the British-born designer
There were no delays for Craig Green in terms of launching his own fashion label. Back in 2012, as soon as he graduated from his MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins in London, he immediately got to work. After a short time, he was named British Menswear Designer of the Year at the Fashion Awards in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
All of Green’s designs are rooted in practicality, and the beauty and humility of functional clothing. Each collection features signature pieces, such as the worker’s jacket, as a launchpad to new ideas, with excess quilting, ties and tabs, and flatness and geometry among his other traits.
For spring-summer, there are leather coats, overalls, and tailored trousers with square, external pockets, available in black or brown, brought together through an overarching theme: skin. “It began with thinking a lot about skin – that you wear leather to protect yourself when you’re on a motorbike,” Green admitted at the collection launch last year.
Which brings us to these pieces – the familiar worker’s jacket and trousers – created in lightweight technical nylon, with vertical-line quilted panelling, available in grey, light blue or pink. The concepts of uniform, utility and protection unite.
