Spitfire and Top Gun models join the collection
Like a lot of watch brands, IWC Schaffhausen embraces the classic aviation theme, and it’s something the Swiss manufacturer does very well. It already has its Pilot’s Watches collection, and now as part of that is introducing the Spitfire line, said to be inspired by the legendary British aircraft from the Second World War.
Featuring in-house calibres, there are five Spitfire watches to choose from – the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Spitfire, with a bronze case and olive green dial, limited to 250 pieces; the Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Spitfire Edition ‘The Longest Flight’, also limited to 250; the Pilot’s Watch UTC Spitfire Edition ‘MJ271’, limited to 271 watches; and the Pilot’s Chronograph Spitfire and the Pilot’s Watch Automatic Spitfire, both available with a stainless steel or bronze case.
Also look for the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Top Gun Ceratanium, which is the first pilot’s watch from IWC to feature a Ceratanium case – a patented material developed by the brand to be as lightweight and robust as titanium, but as scratch-resistant as ceramic, giving it an all-black finish, complete with a black rubber strap.
Alternatively, look for the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Top Gun ‘Mojave Desert’ – the same design, with a case made from sand-coloured ceramic, limited to 500 pieces. The Mojave Desert is home to the largest operations base of the US Navy.
