The Aston Martin Valhalla
Yes, the next James Bond movie, No Time To Die, arriving in cinemas in April, will actually feature four Aston Martins. Bond will drive his classic DB5 from Goldfinger, his V8 Vantage from The Living Daylights, a more recent DBS Superlegga, and a new model not even out yet, the Valhalla.
What’s the Valhalla? Why, it’s Aston Martin’s third mid-engined hypercar, and the sleekest, most technically-advanced of the cars Bond will drive onscreen. But to get a better understanding, there was a chance to see one up close at the Aston Martin showroom in Downtown Dubai last week.
Named after the warrior’s paradise of ancient Norse mythology, the all-carbon-fibre Valhalla uses lightweight construction methods and radical aerodynamics, and is powered by a high-output turbocharged V6 petrol engine and battery-electric hybrid combination. The performance figures have yet to announced, but as the car was developed with Red Bull Racing, using F1 technology, it shouldn’t disappoint.
Visitors to the showroom got to admire the Valhalla from all angles, and even sit inside the cockpit. Only 500 will be made in total – this one, Bond’s and 498 more.
