Thankfully a luxury holiday needn't involve buying a plane ticket, at least not if you live in the UAE. MOJEHMEN speaks to Olivier Harnisch, chief executive officer of Emaar Hospitality Group, about achieving the most out of your weekend away.
Dubai has some of the best attractions in the world and is today regarded globally as one of the go-to destination. While welcoming visitors from around the world, there is also a significant uptake in staycations. My top five staycation tips to maximise the luxury experience of discovering Dubai are as follows...
Explore culinary diversity at Asado, Palace Downtown | Indulge in Dubai's retail outlets and visit The Spa at Address Dubai Mall | Enjoy swimming at Address Boulevard | Go on an equestrian trail at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club | Play golf at Address Montgomerie
Explore the culinary diversity: Dubai offers an incredible selection of cuisine from around the world featuring the best chefs who conjure up the most innovative concepts. For a taste of South America – I recommend Asado at Palace Downtown, where guests can enjoy al fresco dining featuring contemporary exterior décor, views of Burj Khalifa and Burj Lake, and an unmatched choice of grilled meats and nibbles influenced by Latin cuisine.
Indulge in retail: Retail therapy is one of the best ways to relax and I love going to The Dubai Mall and visiting the large number of shops and restaurants that the world’s largest retail and entertainment destination has to offer. After a long day of discovering the mall’s myriad outlets, and soaking up its eclectic atmosphere, a visit to The Spa at Address Dubai Mall is a perfect way to unwind – ideal given the hotel is situated in The Dubai Mall.
The joy of swimming: Dubai has some of the smartest swimming pools in the world. I recommend visiting the open-air swimming pool at Address Boulevard. Presented over numerous tiers, it gives guests an opportunity to take in the panoramic views of Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai.
Go on an equestrian trail: If, like me, you are an equestrian lover and enjoy a great day out with friends and family, then head to Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club to take in magnificent views of lush greenery of the polo field and to watch a great competitive sport in the ‘King of Kings’. The cuisine and ambience combines for the perfect combination as numerous teams from across the region battle it out at one of the club’s many polo tournaments throughout the year.
Tee off to unwind: One of the huge benefits of year-round sunshine in Dubai is the wonderful selection of golf courses that golfers can choose from. My personal recommendation is the 18-hole par 72-championship course at Address Montgomerie, which offers panoramic views over the property’s golf course and of the breathtaking Dubai Marina skyline guaranteeing a premium luxury golf resort experience.
