Full of winter wardrobe essentials
We’ve seen Michael B Jordan play a boxer in Creed and Creed 2, carrying the legacy of the Rocky franchise; we’ve seen him fight the superhero Black Panther as a bad guy in the Marvel movies; and we’ve seen him modelling for Coach, ever since the US brand announced that last year the actor would be the global face of its menswear.
Now that relationship has entered a new phase, with Jordan collaborating on a capsule collection for autumn-winter. Suitably called Coach x Michael B Jordan, the line consists of clothing, footwear and bags. And it’s unisex, so suitable for wives, girlfriends, sisters, aunties, and so on.
The above video, directed by Oscar-nominated cinematographer Rachel Morrison, who worked with Jordan as the director of photography on Black Panther, announces the capsule. It reflects one of the collection’s key influences – Naruto, a popular Japanese manga series, which Jordan is a huge fan of. Guided by Coach creative director Stuart Vevers, Jordan suggested ninja characters and Naruto motifs, splashed across jackets and T-shirts, and inspiring a new take on the Coach logo.
Coach and Jordan created the capsule in partnership with Viz Media, the leading Japanese entertainment company that owns the Naruto franchise, as well as Pokémon and Dragon Ball. Images and graphics feature on parkas, demin jackets, sweaters, backpacks, utility packs and hybrid sneaker boots, with technical details like removable sleeves, tactical straps and elastic closures.
