Perfect travel companions

If you’ve asked your brand ambassador, actor Hugh Jackman, to be present, then what you’re launching must be a big deal. And Montblanc didn’t stop there for the event held last week in New York, inviting actor-singer Quincy Brown, actor Dylan Sprouse, models Martha Hunt and Emily DiDonato, and singer-songwriter Gabriel Kane Day-Lewis.

A big deal it was, as Montblanc revealed its first-ever smart headphones, and also its first smartwatch with an eSim solution from Wear OS by Google. The target customer is the luxury business traveller, and Montblanc even set up its own business class lounge, with headphones and touchscreens, to test the products out.

Let’s talk about the wireless MB 01 headphones first, designed for stylish travellers, with an ergonomic design, enhanced comfort and quality Montblanc craftsmanship. These foldable, compact over-ear headphones feature noise-cancelling technology, impressive sound quality, Google Assistant with voice-activated control, and work across a broad range of Bluetooth devices, including iOS and Android.

The Montblanc MB 01 headphones come in three different combinations: black leather with chrome metal finishes; brown leather with gold-coloured metal finishes; and light grey leather with polished metal finishes. Each comes in a fine fabric pouch with a USB-C charging cable, audio jack cable and an airplane adaptor. These are in stores now.

Not to be outdone, the Summit2+ smartwatch is just as impressive, and was worn by Hugh Jackman at the event. This is the brand’s first smartwatch with an eSim solution from Wear OS by Google that enables making calls, answering messages and connecting to online services at all times, even when the owner is away from their smartphone.

This cutting-edge technology is housed inside a 43.5mm case, finished in black DLC steel, stainless steel, or a rose gold or bronze effect, with a speedometer, altimeter, barometer, compass and GPS built-in. There’s a 1.28in AMOLED screen, with the ability to show more than 1,000 watch display combinations, with a 22mm exchangeable strap, plus a built-in speaker and microphone. Find it in stores in May.
