Actor Rami Malek received his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

The actor is up against some of Hollywood’s biggest names including Bradley Cooper who is nominated for A Star Is Born, Viggo Mortensen who is nominated for Green Book, and Willem Dafoe who is nominated for At Eternity’s Gate. It is no joke that taking on such a role must’ve been a gruelling experience that required a lot of research and a huge commitment, which is now being recognized by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).

The Mr Robot actor proved is his ability and range when he snagged a Golden Globe Award for the same role earlier this year. The 91st Academy Awards are set to take place on the 24th of February 2019 at the DolbTheatrere in Hollywood.
