The brand’s Black Badge cars explored the city’s many districts
The bright, neon-lit cityscape of Tokyo proved the perfect testing ground for Rolls-Royce’s Black Badge cars recently, resulting in an amazing series of images from three different photographers. The Black Badge package – available for the Dawn, Wraith and Ghost – gives the most extreme version of each model in terms of luxury and performance.
Three photographers took to the streets of Tokyo with the cars, with 18 images taken between 2017 and 2019. Japanese photographer Yoshifumi Ogawa shot a Wraith Black Badge model amongst the bustling glitz of Ginza, then took the car to the raised highways and the Rainbow Bridge with a Ghost Black Badge, while the skyscrapers, ancient palace moats and quiet temple grounds lingered in the background.
British photographer Mark Riccioni entered the city’s maze of complex backstreets, taking a Dawn Black Badge to Akihabara, the hive of tech and gaming, with neon signs reflecting in the car’s Magma Red paint. The reclaimed islands of Tokyo Bay were his next stop, followed by the residential streets of hip, affluent Nakameguro.
Finally, Singaporean photographer Darren Chan was drawn to the vivid glow of Shinjuku, with a Wraith Black Badge standing like a black stallion in a field of electric flowers. He then took to the highways that skirt Tokyo Bay, heading to the legendary Daikoku Futo in the early hours, and then the timeless outer markets of Tsukiji.
