The limited editions feature The Joker and Two-Face
Did you know that this year is the 80thanniversary of Batman’s original debut? He made his first appearance in Detective Comics No 27, published in 1939, and has gone on to sell toys, appear in movies and TV shows, and even earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
He sells watches too – Romain Jerome launched its Skylab Batman watch in 2017, which had a glowing bat emblem on the face. Now it’s the turn of the famed crimefighter’s villains, with two new Romain Jerome Arraw models themed around the Joker and Two-Face.
Each watch will be produced in limited numbers of 100 pieces, with a 45mm titanium case and laser-engraved detailing. The Joker watch is a self-winding chronograph, while the Two-Face has a manual-winding movement in a striking skeleton format. Both have been given an appearance representative of their respective villain, and are supplied with an exclusive collector’s item accessory.
With the Joker model, the watch has a titanium bezel, laser-engraved with a Joker motif. Each dial is hand-painted, with a stylistic interpretation of the Joker’s own face, featuring two black eyes at the centre, fading to white at the edges. The hands feature playing card ‘Aces’ tips, which are also used as dial markers, while the second hand has a ‘J’ at its base.
Every Joker watch has three interchangeable straps. Choose the green or purple alligator straps, or the black rubber strap. An exclusive deck of Joker playing cards is included with every timepiece.
The Two-Face watch follows the look of the villain himself, who has one side of his face disfigured by acid. The left-hand side of the watch, from the face to the calf leather strap, is intentionally clean and structured, while on the right the three-layer skeleton movement is exposed.
An additional detail on the dial is the laser-engraved coin, which Two-Face always spins to help him make decisions, such as how he should deal with Batman. An exclusive Two-Face coin is provided with each watch purchased.
Look for the watches now, available at Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. Expect to pay around AED56,000 for the Joker watch, and AED71,000 for the Two-Face model.
