Key personnel from the biggest brands
Dubai Watch Week is fast approaching, and will take place from November 20-24. Founded in 2015 by leading retailer Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the event attracts collectors, watchmakers, brands and the media to DIFC, with the latest models on show, workshops, guest speakers, and even an exhibition of historic watches by Christie’s.
The main speakers for this year’s Horology Forum have just been announced, which include the leading figures from two prominent watch brands: Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer and non-executive president of LVMH’s watch division; and also Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. Both are sure to give a great insight into the current market.
Also of interest will be Aldis Hodge, the US actor and well-known watch collector, who hopes to one day launch his own brand. Danny Govberg, the co-founder and CEO of Watchbox, the website that buys and sells pre-owned luxury watches, will also be present.
These speakers will be joined by the global managing director of Christie’s, Aline Sylla-Walbaum; Dubai chef and entrepreneur Izu Ani; and legendary Swiss watchmaker Philippe Dufour. In total, there will be around 40 guest speakers, with other curators, pioneers, artists and collectors yet to be announced.
The fourth edition of Dubai Watch Week also marks the first time that Rolex will exhibit. Entry is free, but masterclasses and panels must be registered for in advance via the website.
