What does it take to be named ‘The World’s Best Restaurant’? “Creativity, immense skill, undimmed passion and fierce determination” – at least according to the panel of almost 1,000 gastronomic experts worldwide who voted in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2016.
Now regarded just as highly as the Michelin star – the historical measure of a restaurant’s quality – the competition has become the most hotly contested in the culinary world in recent years.
While no Middle East restaurants managed to break the top 10, the region was represented with a couple of Dubai entrants: Zuma and La Petite Maison, which managed 89th and 99th spot respectively.
