The Galleries at MAS event in Abu Dhabi has work by new and established names
Ever wanted to hang original artwork on your walls, but not sure where to start? It can add a degree of sophistication to a home, but can often come with a high price tag – luckily an event starting this April in Abu Dhabi gives first-time collectors a chance to purchase affordable work.
Galleries at MAS, part of Abu Dhabi Art’s year-round programme, runs this year from April 8-June 8 at Manarat Al Saadiyat (MAS). The event, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism, begins with an introduction on how to buy art, with photography and paintings on offer from 10 participating galleries – from the Middle East and further afield. This will include work by emerging artists, as well as limited edition prints and paintings by established names, including Emirati painter Abdul Qader Al Rais. Prices will range from Dhs350-15,000.
Dyala Nusseibeh, director of Abu Dhabi Art, said, “Galleries at MAS is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in art, whether they are planning to be a collector, are keen to learn more about the vibrant art scene in Abu Dhabi, or want to connect with artists and galleries, and discover emerging talent.”
The event will be open from 9am-8pm daily at Gallery A in Manarat Al Saadiyat. The first week coincides with the Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2019 at the same location from April 7-11
