From live roasted spit of lamb to “clouds of coconut”, MOJEH Men takes a look at two Dubai dining destinations that are bringing patrons something fresh
Chez Charles Restaurant
Located in Dubai bustling Design District, better known as D3, Chez Charles offers a casually chic dining and entertainment atmosphere. Operating since 2017, Chez Charles’s diverse menu and events make sure its patrons are in for something different every day of the week.
Bringing a fresh flavour to the loved French brasserie vibes, Chez Charles offers Saturday brunches and live entertainment on Thursday nights, in addition to daily menu offerings. All of which complement the diverse food menu items made with fresh ingredients, according to Chez Charles.
One of the venue’s most popular event is the Saturday brunch, which was relaunched recently with extended hours. The restaurant promises to transport attendees to the south of France with its brasserie vibes and live cooking stations, which include signature dishes such as gourmet pizza and a spit of lamb, live roasted in the outdoor garden. In addition, the restaurant offers a variety of desserts as well as à la carte dishes.
On Saturdays, Chez Charles is packed with Dubai’s trendsetters seeking freshly prepared cocktail and mocktails, a different culinary experience, and live entertainment that includes a live DJ performance and a live singer.
The extended brunch runs from 1 pm to 8 pm every Saturday. chezcharlesrestaurant.ae
Play Restaurant and Lounge
Since 2015, this Dubai favourite has been tantalizing the taste buds of Dubai’s dining crowds and tourists alike. Recently, Play Restaurant and Lounge announced new additions to the menu without compromising on the existing signature favourite dishes.
Play promises a fun, experimental, and playful dining destination and decor, which is designed by the Beirut-based firm Gatserelia Design (the same firm that designed Nikki Beach Dubai).
“We have continued with the fun ethos of what makes Play what it is and built on that by introducing a few new things,” explains Head Chef Santiago. “Rather than a brand new menu, we’ve evolved and enhanced the current one. We’ve moved it forward; keeping the classics that we love and everyone keeps coming back for and added more, so you can fall in love with Play all over again.”
Offered with a side of a panoramic view of Downtown Dubai from the 36th floor of the H Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, new menu items include wagyu truffle carbonara barrel and bluefin tuna tartar, in addition to desserts like white chocolate mango coconut cake.
Play also features live entertainment and is open Saturday to Wednesday from 6 pm to 2 am and on Thursday and Friday from 6 pm to 3 am. playrestaurants.com
