This flying tourbillon timepiece is inspired by a luxury yacht
There is an argument here that for AED1.1 million, you might be part of the way to buying an actual mega yacht – but how many of these mighty vessels can you take with you onto dry land and wear on your wrist? That’s where this Ulysse Nardin watch, inspired by the construction and impressive nature of a luxury yacht, comes in.
Crafted in platinum, limited to only 30 pieces, the Marine Mega Yacht watch has a flying tourbillon equipped with a cage modelled on a ship’s propeller. There is also the 3D ‘grand feu’ enamel dial, reminiscent of a ship’s bow, featuring the moon, a tide indicator, and an anchor attached to the windlass at 12 o’clock, which raises and falls to show the power reserve – a patent-pending design.
The case itself measures 44mm, with the movement visible through the transparent caseback. It has a power reserve of 80 hours, with 504 components, wound by hand. Water-resistant to 50m, the watch has a navy-blue alligator-leather strap.
Nautical watches have been a tradition of Ulysse Nardin since 1846, with this particular timepiece an extension of the Marine Grand Deck Tourbillon launched in 2016.
