A see-through timepiece in red, with an X-shaped movement
Just in time for summer, Ulysse Nardin has unleashed the hottest watch on the market. Presenting the Skeleton X Magma, a 43mm skeletonised piece made from ultra-light carbon-fibre and red, marbled epoxy resin.
We first saw the Skeleton X at the SIHH 2019 event in Geneva earlier this year. It was a take on the brand’s previous skeletonised watches, with a new movement shaped like an X and a sporty, redesigned case. This is the Magma version, with red and black tones, plus a black leather strap.
There’s no dial, but what you have instead is the X movement formed by four indexes, centred by a rectangle and anchored by Roman numerals. The manual-winding movement is a modern calibre UN-371 with a 96-hour power reserve, featuring an oversized silicon balance with nickel flyweights and a silicon ‘minuterie’ gear train.
Scratch-resistant and waterproof to 50 metres, the Skeleton X Magma costs AED91,800.
