Versace Channels The American West For New Collection

Think suede, leather and cowboy boots

While it may be an iconic Italian fashion house, Versace has always looked to the American west for inspiration. It was one of Gianni Versace’s key fascinations, making headlines in 1992 with a collection of cowboys and cowgirls in studded black leather outfits. Now his sister, Donatella, is revisiting these themes for the Cruise 2020 collection.

Structured leather jackets are paired with printed silks and cowboy boots, and layered separates boast signature hardware – Western belt buckles, star-shaped badges, safety pins and Medusa medallions among them. Then there are suede coats and accessories enriched with Barocco motifs, created by a leather intarsia technique.

The collection reimagines the cowboy as a motorcycle enthusiast, offering classic denim and leather biker jackets enriched with rodeo-inspired embellishments. Impeccable tailoring is paired with Western-buckle belts and Medusa bolo ties, with the Versace logo hidden between pinstripes and under trenchcoat belts, collars and lapels. Iconic Biggie sunglasses are printed onto casual pieces, and tailored suits are paired with Squalo sneakers or Western boots.

A new introduction is Gianni Versace’s original handwritten signature. This motif is interpreted through embroidery, print or as a crystal embellishment, featured on jean pockets, shirt collars, cowboy hats and tie-dye denim pieces.

Versace stores are located at Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates.
