Inspired by the anatomy of the great white shark
Let’s start with some trivia – the movie Jaws was released in Italy in 1975 as Lo Squalo. The word ‘squalo’ in Italian means ‘shark’, and now it’s the name of Versace’s latest sneaker.
The Italian powerhouse brand is releasing the design as part of its autumn-winter collection, with a silhouette said to be directly inspired by the anatomy of the great white shark. Crafted in Italy from quality materials, including polyester, rubber and leather, the sharp lines of the outsole are said to reflect the shape of the animal’s teeth.
There are seven different colour combinations to choose from in the men’s Squalo line. Each pair includes a number of Versace’s iconic house codes, including leather details with the brand’s signature top-stitching, the Versace logo embroidered on the tongue, and the Medusa emblem hidden on the outsole.
Versace stores can be found in Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates. There is also a store in Avenue at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi.
