Teaming with the Muhammad Ali Center, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, design brand Shinola has unveiled a watch dedicated to the world’s most famous boxer. Part of its Great Americans Series, the company has previously crafted timepieces inspired by the Wright Brothers and Henry Ford, all in a bid to champion American craftsmanship and heritage.
With Ali’s six principles inscribed on the back - confidence, conviction, dedication, giving, respect and spirituality - the watch is intended to emphasise the qualities that made the boxing champ a household name, as well as one of the most charismatic characters to ever step into the ring.
“This watch is a tribute to the principles that fuel his incredible life and serve as the founding pillars of the Muhammad Ali Center.” - Jacques Panis, Shinola’s President
Available in both 36mm and 41mm sizes, the limited edition watch boasts a stainless steel cushion case and an alligator strap. Each piece is also offered in a handcrafted wooden box embossed with the Muhammad Ali Center’s logo, accompanied by rare photos of the boxer in everyday life, shot and signed by famed photographer Thomas Hoepker.
Limited to just 200 pieces in each size, the set retails at US $2,250 and is available exclusively through Shinola’s stores.
